SCHUSS POOL NEWS
We have completed our discussions with the resort regarding the Schuss Pools. Commencing August 2, 2010, entrance to the pools will require an electronic pool pass. The resort is issuing passes only to the following; 1) resort guests 2) members of the Schuss Mountain Property Owners Association and their guests and 3) any unit owners in the resort's rental management program and their guests.
We are pleased to announce that the passes will be issued to any paid Schuss Mountain Property Owners Association Members (one pass per property) at no additional cost, upon request; the passes are an added value to your membership.
If you are not currently a paid Schuss Mountain Property Owner and would like a pool pass, please pay your dues as soon as possible and we will reserve a pass for you. If you would like to make a payment in person and get a pass, our administrator, Patti Mueller, is available to accept payments in person every Friday at the Cortina Conference Center from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Or you can contact Patti at 810-922-8952 or administrator@smpoa.net.

The Caterpillar spraying project was completed in May. By all accounts and observations it was a huge success. Flies have followed the infestation of caterpillars; however, we are told that their population is short lived. The ad hoc committee that put the caterpillar spraying project together is now evaluating whether spraying will be required next year. Keep in touch with this and other news at this web site. A special thanks to all who have supported the caterpillar spraying project and those who still have not yet sent in their contributions.

TCE PLUME UPDATE
Today we find that this plume has become the largest of its kind in the State of Michigan. To date, $17.9 million dollars has been spent on monitoring, testing and expanding the municipal water system. The results find that the plume is moving at much more rapid rate than originally anticipated. It will soon threaten the well at Cedar River. Ultimately a new water source to replace the Cedar River well will be needed.
Current funding will expire in October of 2010; however, another $10 million is being appropriated for continued testing, monitoring and supplying alternate water sources. That appropriation is still pending.
Several agencies and committees continue to work to find solutions to the impact that the plume will have on the property owners at Shanty Creek Resorts.
